My calm down video was shown during Tuesday’s class and I think that it fit in very well with the overall theme of the day’s videos. Most of the videos that were shown were calm down videos that used a variety of effects such as relaxing music, nature sounds, inspirational words, and even some talking in order to produce the desired reaction. There were also a few psych-up videos thrown into the mix that helped to keep up the hype and motivation.
I thought that it was neat to see all of the different things that people use to calm themselves down, while also being able to see the overlap and similarities between the videos. Each person created their own unique video which was able to serve them and resonate with them personally. However, some of those that were shown were more personal videos where we were able to see photos and clips of friends and family members. Those were some of my favorites to watch. My video in particular focused primarily on breath work and grounding, and it included several short clips and sounds that help me to do these things. There were definitely some videos that had a similar theme and feel as mine. There were also some that came off as more chill and relaxed, while still being reassuring. Throughout all of the videos that we watched, positive motivation and reassurance were recurring themes which I believe made the videos really enjoyable to watch as a sequence.
