Reflection on Workshop

I think the peer review process went well. I enjoyed being able to see the variations in other people’s work whether it was the experience that they highlighted, the wording they used, or just the format of the letter itself. At first I thought that revising the cover letter would be harder than normal because everyone was writing their letters using the same format, but once we got to sharing I was surprised to find that this wasn’t necessarily the case. I was able to ask for feedback from my group members about specific spots in my cover letter where I felt my work wasn’t as strong as it should have been and they were able to use their specific strengths and experience to help me. Similarly, we were able to have other people read over spots in each of our letters where the wording could have been made clearer, and offer feedback about how to come across as more clear and specific.

For my revisions I am going to focus primarily on the desire portion of the cover letter because it’s the part that I felt needed the most work. I am able to list off and describe my specific experiences well, but I would like to strengthen the paragraph describing the personal characteristics that I have that are relevant to the job. I want to showcase who I am as a worker and as a person through my cover letter. I also need to include more about why I want to work at this job and company in particular.
