The Best Advice That I Gave

I think the best piece of advice that I gave to a handful of my peers during the workshop process was that it’s okay to still be unsure and to admit that to your audience. I made sure to stress that as long as you’re being authentic, your audience will likely pick up on what you’re saying. For many of us, we are discussing our struggles or weak points throughout our speech in order to illustrate the ways that we’ve improved since past experiences. A big part of this vulnerability is still not having it all figured out.

I think that this advice was helpful because it can push the speaker to foster a better connection between themselves and their audience. Being authentic enough to express vulnerability can take your speech to the next level, especially in the case of this project. I think this advice was helpful to my peers because it’s broad enough to be applied to anyone’s speech, but it can also mean something different for each person presenting.
