As we continue to move forward with this massive project, I feel really good about what my group and I were able to accomplish during Friday’s class. During the first twenty minutes we were able to compile all of the required components for our first check in into a shared google document which we will continue to work from for the next week. This helped us to gain a better idea of what components we have already completed and what’s left to do this week. Next, we were able to divide the remaining uncompleted components equally among our group so that everyone has something to work on between our in class meetings.
I think that making a shared document that we can all contribute to was a really valuable part of the work that we did on Friday. It helped us to feel more motivated about this project as we could finally see the ways that it was coming together. I also think that it helped us create a shared vision for how we want this handbook to look in the end. I also found it very valuable to see some completed examples of this project from the past. I think it made all of us feel more confident about the work that we’ve done so far and will help us to have a better understanding of where we are going.
Moving forward, we all have the freedom to work on each of our required components at our own pace which I think will work really well. Although not everyone in the group will be able to complete their work at the same time, we all have clarity about what we’re doing between now and the next class. I find this to be the most important aspect of a group project, especially when a good portion of the work is being completed remotely.
