Student Academic Success Center
The Student Academic Success Center (SASC) at UNE provides a range of services to students, with the goal of assisting them in becoming independent learners able to meet their own academic goals and the university’s standards. SASC provides individual and group tutoring services for students in almost all courses offered on campus. Tutors are trained in a variety of materials and can help you with your overall understanding of a course as well as specific concepts or assignments you might be struggling with. They also provide specialized writing services for students who want to hone in on their writing skills and abilities. Individualized assistance through SASC can help students to perform better in an academic setting and feel more confident about the work that they are completing as well.

Academic Advising
https://www.une.edu/academic-career-advising-center/academic-advising
An academic advisor is assigned to you when you first enter college according to your major. Their primary job is to help you figure out your class schedule and guide you in figuring out postgrad plans. They can also help to answer any questions about a minor or major that you might be interested in. Emailing your advisor to find out what next year’s classes look like or even just to seek help on how to do better in your classes academically can be helpful for students. If you want to drop a class, add a class, change your major, or add a minor, your academic advisor is the person who can help you with all of that. If your advisor isn’t helping you in the area you need you can also look to your assigned faculty advisor. You can find the name of your faculty advisor through U-Online, along with other useful information you may need or want.

Office Hours
Professor’s individual office hours are a great way to optimize your resources in a new environment. These hours can be used to check in with your academics, ask for help, and more. Typically handed out of the first day, the syllabus holds which days and hours each professor is available in their office. From there you can send an email or fill out an appointment sheet to let them know that you would like to meet. As stated in the third big lesson, if you know a major assignment is coming up but need extra help or an extension, get ahead of the game and ask in advance. The professors at UNE are here to help you and have time allocated to do so. All you have to do is reach out!
