Lesson 1: Utilizing Major Resources on Campus

College can be intimidating at first. You can easily feel alone in a fishbowl filled with hundreds of other students feeling many of the same things as you. So what can you do to settle these nerves, maximize your time, and balance your social life? Try using your resources! Here at UNE, our resources are thought to be broken up into numerous categories. The Health Center offers counseling whether it’s a medical or mental health issue. Especially when finals week comes around, studying can become stressful and it’s easy to prioritize studying. And don’t get me started on the Campus Cold, you might want a check up then! The online website provides a number to schedule appointments and office hours. The Student Academic Success Center (SASC) can help with tutoring, and planning your future. They also hold individual consultations that can be arranged through email. The building is located across the road from the Alfond Center and tutoring is held in Ripich Commons. Lastly, the school’s clubs and special events are a great way to relax, try something new, and be involved! The school’s Activity and Planning Board hosts a wide range of events every week and displays flyers all around campus with information about these events. It may be difficult to find balance in this new chapter of your life, but don’t worry everyone has been there. Don’t be afraid to ask for help and remember, these resources are here anytime for you.
